Op dinsdag 11 november aanstaande vormen de IJ-oevers in Amsterdam het epicentrum van bètatechniek. De Science & Technology Summit staat in het teken van jong talent, vernieuwing, ‘cutting-edge’ technologie, vooruitstrevend onderwijs, innovatief ondernemen en baanbrekende wetenschap. Aanwezig zijn toonaangevende nationale en internationale gasten uit de politiek, het bedrijfsleven, de wetenschap en het onderwijs.
Het Platform Bèta Techniek wil tijdens de Science & Technology Summit laten zien wat er de afgelopen jaren bereikt is in het onderwijs én op de arbeidsmarkt. Vele duizenden scholen (van primair en voortgezet onderwijs tot vmbo, mbo en het hoger onderwijs), kennisinstellingen en bedrijven doen mee met de programma’s van het Platform om te zorgen voor meer en kwalitatief goed opgeleide bèta’s en technici. De Summit laat zien hoe en waarom deze organisaties zo succesvol zijn en hoe ze de ingeslagen weg kunnen voortzetten om uiteindelijk in 2010 de doelstellingen van het Platform te halen: 15% meer uitstroom uit het bèta-technisch onderwijs (ten opzichte van 2000) en een betere benutting van bestaand talent in bedrijven en onderzoeksinstellingen.

The 25th of September Globe4D has been exhibited during a private annual event of the ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (Verkeer en Waterstaat).

The same day at the PICNIC event the Globe4D concept was presented at the Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam as part of the Creative Tour.

On the 4th and 5th of September 2008 Globe4D will be part of Scientific ‘08 at NEMO Science Center Amsterdam.

Globe4D will be exhibited during the Media Technology MSc Exhibition in V2, Rotterdam between July 10th - 13th and July 17th - 20th. Opening hours: 12:00 - 18:00.

Globe4D started at the Media Technology at Leiden University. The study now looks back at 6 years of Media Technology projects. Globe4D is very proud to be a part of that history.

Six years of creative research
The Media Technology MSc programme is a place where students are encouraged to formulate their own scientific questions, and to translate personal inspirations and curiosities into their own research projects. To answer these questions, students are stimulated to create actual installations and products because we are convinced that by doing and creating, new scientific insights into the underlying question are encountered.

The exhibition is divided in three parts:
- Selected installations realised in the last six years. This is a mixture of graduation works and other works that have been realised during the study.
- Results from the current second semester project. Small groups of students have been exploring different topics. This has lead to statements that have been translated into exhibitable work.
- Hands-on laboratory. In the laboratory students will be working on their own research that is already presentable to an audience.

The Media Technology programme is a joint initiative of Leiden University’s computer science institute (LIACS) and the Faculty of Creative and Performing Arts.

Op 26 mei 2008 is Globe4D de hele dag te zien geweest in NEMO op het Bessensap 2008 evenement van NWO.

Het Bessensap evenement brengt journalisten, redacteuren, voorlichters en mediagenieke onderzoekers dichter bij elkaar. Het motto: wetenschap ontmoet pers, pers ontmoet wetenschap.

Op 24 mei 2008 staat Globe4D op HappyChaos, een inspirerende avond vol discussie, kunst en muziek over de technologische cultuur waarin wij leven: Genesis 2.0

De producten en systemen die een handvol mensen in laboratoria ontwikkelt, regeren over ons leven. happyChaos gaat in Genesis 2.0 op zoek naar de toekomstversnellers bij uitstek; technologische ontwikkelingen die de komende jaren maatschappelijke dynamiek gaan veroorzaken, controverse zullen oproepen en een grote impact op ons dagelijks leven gaan hebben. Is deze technologie van de toekomst onze nieuwe verlosser? Is het geloof in de technologie onze nieuwe religie? En gaan we met zijn allen richting het beloofde land waar alles mogelijk is? Tijdens Genesis 2.0. verkennen wij samen met ‘gelovigen’ en ‘ongelovigen’ het technologisch paradijs.

Wetenschappers, ondernemers, journalisten, filosofen en kunstenaars zullen op 24 mei in Pakhuis de Zwijger hun toekomstvisies aan ons voorschotelen. Zij delen hun inspirerende, verontrustende of juist geruststellende ideeën met ons en gaan met het publiek in debat over de gevolgen van de toekomstversnellers.

Carribean Cinekid

Cinekid (The Netherlands) and The Back Lot (Suriname) organize a film and new media festival in Paramaribo, Suriname. Globe4D will be there as part of the festival from April 3rd till 6th.

Surfspot TV

During IPON 2008, APS IT-diensten from The Netherlands did a documentary on the fair for SurfspotTV with a nice item about Globe4D. It’s online available now at Surfspot TV or as video podcast.

Innovaction Fair, Italy

Globe4D has been exhibited at InnovAction, Italy in February. The third InnovAction Fair of Knowledge, Ideas and Innovation was a big success. In total 45,000 visitors attended the fair and thousands of them got to play and learn from one of the four currently existing Globe4D models.

Museum for Natural history in Maastricht

Since February, one of our Globe4D models is on permanent display in Maastricht in The Netherlands. First as part of the China Dino exhibition in Centre Céramique. After April as part of the collection of the Museum for Natural History in Maastricht.

Between 31st January and 3rd February one of our new Globe4D models will be exhibited at the Kshitij conference 2008 in Kharagpur in India.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is accredited as one of the best technical institutes in the world. It annually organizes Kshitij, one of the largest Techno-Management symposium of Asia. The latest edition of Kshitij is scheduled from 31st Jan to 3rd Feb 2008. Dignitaries from all over the world with technical and managerial background will be flying in to be a part of this symposium and will interact with around 10,000 students from various parts of Asia who visit IIT Kharagpur during this time.

Het onderwijs maakt steeds meer gebruik van de digitale ontwikkelingen: de krijtjesborden worden vervangen door digitale schoolborden, uitgeverijen maken interactieve software bij hun methoden en moderne technieken komen in opmars.

En daarom presenteren wij het nieuwe model van Globe4D als onderdeel van het Cinekid MediaLab op het IPON 2008 evenement in de Jaarbeurs in Utrecht op 23 en 24 januari 2008.

Het evenement is zeer “praktijkgericht” ingericht en bestemd o.a. voor leerkrachten, ICT-coördinatoren, directies en besturen. Wij nodigen u dan ook van harte uit om deze digitale ontwikkelingen te komen ervaren. Via deze link kunnen wij u een gratis entreekaart aanbieden. U vindt ons in Hal5 rechts achter in de zaal.

Op initiatief van en in samenwerking met vele onderwijspartijen wordt het groots opgezette onderwijs & ICT evenement IPON gelanceerd. Meer dan 3000 bezoekers uit het onderwijs zullen gedurende twee dagen middels een omvangrijk en interactief programma kennismaken met vele facetten van nieuwe media, digitaal lesmateriaal, E-learning, software, gaming in het onderwijs, digitaal lesgeven en nog veel meer.

The first museum where Globe4D will be installed in January 2008 is the Museum for Natural History in Maastricht, The Netherlands. They are going to set up Globe4D in their permanent exhibition about the history of the earth. Hands-on spherical interactive animation of 250 million years continental drift, temperature change and more.

This weekend Globe4D will be exhibited during a corporate event at the Echangeur showroom in Paris.
