Media Technology
Globe4D was created as a Multimedia Systems project for the Master of Science in Media Technology at Leiden University, the Netherlands.

The Media Technology MSc programme is a place where students are encouraged to formulate their own scientific questions, and to translate personal inspirations and curiosities into their own research projects. To answer these questions, students create actual products, because we are convinced that by doing and creating, new scientific insights into the underlying question are encountered. The programme is a joint initiative of Leiden University’s computer science institute (LIACS) and the Faculty of Creative and Performing Arts.

Have you ever thought about selling this idea?

  2. José Sánchez-Cerezo Says:

    Hello!

I´ve seen your Globe4D and I think is a great work.

I´m a philosophy graduated form one of Madrid universities. I´ve developed by myself a map of all human knowledge that fits perfectly in your Globe4D.

I think we should get together and prepare for a blast next time Globe4D goes to public shows

I cannot go through the details now, but please let me see… I´m sure we can work ir out

    Please answer mw:

    Great work! My compliments.

Now the globe is partially visible. Fantasising about the 4D globe, I figured that in the future the globe should be completely visible and made HOVERable, f.e. by using opposite magnets (globe and table) and laser-controlled browsing. When making the table and hole wider, could it house a second beamer?
Floating in the air, that’s the kind of feeling –I think– a 4D globe needs!
If you like I can draw you a sketch.

  4. Floor van der Wateren Says:

    Great invention!

With growing interest I read the NRC.Next article last week. I’ve a fascination for Globes and state-of-the-art inventions. The Globe 4D seems to elegantly combine both!

As graduated Political Geographer I made some advertisement for the Globe 4D on the European Geography Association website: http://egea.geog.uu.nl/forum/topic/3286/#pid90859

I think it’d be a wonderful idea for the future to project changing historical political borders and visualize nation-building processes on the Globe 4D.

Keep up the good work and congratulations with your Multimedia Award!

  5. Hans-Ronny Lorentzen Says:

What about adding interactive pictures, videos when touching the sphere, like culture vids from the part of globe that is pressed. Just a suggestion. I know you can do it..its my challenge to you geniouses:)

  6. April Wyatt Says:

What I want to know is when will this marvel be available for purchase by the public?

  7. Riyas V K Says:
